Bibi Titi Mohamed was a major leader of the Tanganyikan nationalist movement.
She led Umoja wa Wanawake wa Tanzania, the women's wing of the Tanganyika African National Union, and later became minister for women and social affairs. Before Julius Nyerere spoke, she would sing to gather the crowd.
